Detailed comparison
Qualtrics is one of the most powerful survey platforms in the world, built for very large organizations with analytics teams. Amélio is a turnkey approach: an already validated scientific model, automatic prioritization of levers, action plans for managers and an organizational development advisor. The real question is not which one is more powerful, but which one will produce visible change in your organization.

Qualtrics was founded in 2002 in Provo, Utah, and has been owned since 2023 by Silver Lake and CPP Investments1. EmployeeXM is part of an experience platform that also covers customers and products. Its strength is flexibility: almost everything can be configured, from questions to dashboards.
That flexibility has a downside: you need people to design the survey, validate its rigour, build the analyses and turn results into actions. Large enterprises have those teams. Most organizations of 50 to a few thousand employees do not.
Amélio takes the opposite route: the scientific model, prioritization and action plans are ready to go, and an organizational development advisor plays the role of the analytics team you do not have to hire.
Amélio's diagnostic is built on the JD-R scientific model (job demands and resources), broken down into 12 factors and 40 sub-factors2. For each factor, the survey measures both satisfaction and the importance employees give it. Crossing the two, Amélio surfaces the two or three levers that really matter in your organization, instead of having you chase every low score.
Written comments are analysed by artificial intelligence, then results are compared with more than 750 organizations. The survey is available in 29 languages3.
With Qualtrics, this level of analysis is possible, but it has to be built: it is up to you, or to implementation services, to choose the model, the questions and the analyses.
This is where most initiatives fail: a report lands and nobody knows where to start. With Amélio, every manager receives results already analysed for their team, more than 100 recommended actions and ready-to-use meeting plans3. An organizational development advisor, included in every plan, helps you read the results, build the plan and track progress over time4.
Amélio hosts its clients' data in Canada, on Microsoft Azure infrastructure, mainly in Québec, with encrypted backups that stay in Canadian regions. The platform is SOC 2 Type 2 certified and compliant with Quebec's Law 25, the GDPR and PIPEDA5.
Qualtrics also offers Canadian hosting: its security and privacy framework lists a storage region in Montréal, and each account is tied to the datacenter chosen by the customer6. On this criterion, both solutions can meet Law 25 requirements, provided you choose the right region at Qualtrics.
Amélio offers a turnkey Law 27 program: a validated psychosocial risk survey, analysis, prevention program templates adapted to your size and support7 (see our article on Law 27). With Qualtrics, a psychosocial risk survey is feasible, but you have to design and validate it yourself; we found no Law 27 offering in the sources consulted.
Amélio publishes its starting prices: a one-time engagement diagnostic from CA$2,550 (depending on headcount), continuous engagement from CA$3,850 per year, performance management from CA$3,850 and the complete offering from CA$5,000. The organizational development advisor is included in every plan. A two-year agreement gives an 8% discount and a three-year agreement 15%, with the price frozen for the full term4.
Qualtrics does not publish its prices: they are quoted on request8. In your comparison, account for the cost of implementation services and your team's time to design, analyse and follow up on surveys.
Our recommendation: Qualtrics is an excellent tool for those with the teams to use it. For an organization that wants concrete results without building its own analytics function, Amélio delivers a complete, supported approach faster and at a known price.
